I love to say that “success is always simple,” because it’s true—we tend to make things overcomplicated. There are, in reality, three keystone strategies for success that enable you to thrive in your practice, even in these challenging years. These strategies really strike at the heart of the question we asked all the way at the beginning of this blog series: “how can you succeed in a challenging environment?”

Now that we’ve talked through the Great Disabling Distracter, what you can no longer afford to gloss over in your practice, and what it actually means to dominate your market, we can dig deeper and discuss actual strategies. These are things we talk about regularly at Top Practices, but it never hurts to hear them again. The three keystone strategies for a successful practice are:

1. Comprehensiveness of Care – This means running your practice using key metrics; applying systems and protocols to drive those metrics; integrating ancillary practices to raise patient outcomes and your profitability; empowering your staff to make this all happen; and networking with other successful medical professionals. All of this allows you to better serve your patients while increasing profits and carefully managing your office.

2. Differentiation – This means finding a way to stand out from the crowd when your patients are already overwhelmed with everyone marketing at them. You can’t be a generalist. You have to be a specialist, and shape your marketing to target the exact type of patient you want in your office. Your marketing can’t be about you, either. It must be all about them, and how you can solve their problem. This all works through the Four Pillars of Marketing.

3. Slight Edge – Success comes one day at a time, one decision at a time. You don’t succeed when you don’t actually do the things you already know you’re supposed to do. However, if you make the decision every single day to take one more step toward achieving your goals, you will get there.

Each of these areas takes time and effort to master. They aren’t complicated—remember, success is simple!—but they do involve work. But don’t let that keep you from making the changes. You don’t have to face this process alone. Our Top Practices Mastermind group is here to help you every step of the way.
