Hi, it's Tina. I'm here with your one-minute management tip.
We've been discussing in the Virtual Practice Management Institute recently about how we can reduce and prevent employee turnover. Gallup had an article, July 10th, 2024, that talked about the different percentages of employees that left their jobs and how it could have been preventable.
42% of employees who left their employment say that it could have been preventable by various means. One of the issues was workflow, and how people struggled at work because of staffing and workloads and not having the proper systems in place, which made for stress. And you know how it is—when things are stressful, you just don't work well.
So, one of the tips that we gave was to proactively identify workflow bottlenecks. This takes everybody in the practice. Maybe once a week, do a check-in:
-
What kind of bottlenecks or issues did you encounter this week?
-
Was it something that's been repeated?
-
And how could we have prevented it?
Talk with everyone. Make everyone a part of the solution—because when we're working together to try and make our practice run better, to make the time that we're there be better for us and more enjoyable, then we're more likely willing to stay and not leave because we know that we're working on the problems.
If you have any questions, all you have to do is email me at Tina@TopPractices.com, or Dr. Peter Wishnie at Peter@TopPractices.com. And you might wanna Google that Gallup article. It is excellent.
Talk to you later. Bye.
