Hi, it's Tina and I'm here with your One Minute Management Tip.
This year at our Summit, our theme was based around the book, The Obstacle Is the Way by Ryan Holiday. If you haven't had the opportunity to read it, I highly suggest you do.
You know, one of the things that I learned and I pulled out as a nugget from that book is a quote by Wendell Phillips and it says, "What is defeat? Nothing but education. Nothing but the first steps to something better."
Now, when we can take that idea and bring it into our practice, when we're trying to make changes, to develop systems, to see what works and what doesn't work, there is no failure. It's all a learning time. And we can take that learning to realize, oops, that didn't work. Let's try something different. Or we can take that learning and say, well, that didn't work and we forget about it.
Nope. Change is a process and it's a constant learning to move forward, to grow our practices, to make them more successful. So remember the next time you talk about, well let's try this. Realize that if that doesn't work, it isn't a failure. You were trying to do something to improve or to learn something new, and that is what happened. You may have learned it didn't work, and so now you can go back to the drawing board and come up with something different.
Well, I hope you take this little nugget and use it wisely in your practice. If you have any questions, just email me at [email protected] or Dr. Peter Wishnie at [email protected].
Remember, keep moving forward. There is no failure, only education and the first steps to learning something better. Bye-bye.
