Hi, it's Tina. I'm here with your one-minute management tip. Today, I want to talk about performance and productivity. I hear from many doctors and their office managers these challenges of staff not performing to the expectations that they have set. That they think things should be done a certain way and they should.

But I need to ask you. Does the staff member know how they should be done, when they should be done, how to do them, and what is the consequence if they're not done? Many times this is the part that's not reviewed with the staff member. They're trained on how to do something and they're told why it needs to be done.

Sometimes they're not told, but then when they fail to do it or they don't do it correctly, it's like, well, yeah, I'll get to them, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll work with them on that, and that doesn't happen. Or they tell them, you did this incorrectly. Please make sure it's done correctly. But they don't really go into detail about what was wrong and how to correct it. And then do some follow-up, making sure that the task is being done the right way and then giving the praise to the staff members saying, you've got it. Thank you very much.

Now, if you're having this problem in your practice and you'd like to talk about it, or you need to know maybe some policies regarding this, if you're part of the VPMI, we have 'em in the library. If you're not, all you have to do is email me at Tina@TopPractices.com.

Take care. Bye.
