Hi, it's Tina and welcome to today's One Minute Management Tip.
Today I'm going to talk to about improving our patients' appointments. Yes, their appointment times with us. There's a couple of things that if we just make sure that we do for every appointment that a patient has. They're going to be happier and so will we.
First, we need to be prepared for that appointment. We need to understand what it is that is our part whether we need to get a referral, whether we need to make sure that we're on the insurance plan, whether we need to make sure that we have their x-rays, MRIs, CT-Scan, lab reports, whatever it is that is the practice's responsibility to have ready for that patient's appointment. it better be done.
Then, the patient's part: We need to make sure that our patients understand what their expectations are. If it's a new patient, do they have their new patient forms? Do they know they need to bring their insurance cards? Do they know they need to get a referral if they do. By preparing the patient with whatever it is that they need to have ready for their appointment time ahead of time so that when they walk through that door they're ready and if we're ready on our end that we have everything that the doctor is going to need to see that patient at that appointment we are bound to have better encounters with our patients every single day.
