Hi, it's Tina. And I'm here with your one-minute management tip.

Recently, someone asked me, "How can I manage my time better?" Well, it's not really managing time because we can't, the seconds will continue to tick away. What we need to do is learn to manage ourselves better with the times that we have. So, there's a couple things that you can do:

  • First of all, you need to determine are you a time-waster? And that is done by tracking your time.
  • What am I spending my time on?
  • How much time I spending thinking about the things I need to do instead of actually doing them?
  • Am I being productive?
  • What is it that I need to get done?

And sometimes just having a simple little to-do list like this. We have these in the VPMI Library. Just writing a few things down that you need to accomplish each day in a time frame that you have selected. And that's setting time goals. And tomorrow I have 2 hours and I need to complete this. Can I do that in 2 hours?

Another thing is really helpful to me is a planner. Having a planner, I use Brendon Burchard High Performance Planner. There's all kinds of planners out there. But if I don't plan things and I don't set the time aside and put them in my calendar more likely I'm not going to get them done.

One of the things that I always say is that one cannot begin to think of managing one's own time unless one first knows where their time goes. So you need to start tracking your time.
