Hi, it's Tina and I'm here with your One Minute Management tip.
You know, in Oprah Winfrey's corporate offices, she has a sign that says, "Please be responsible for the energy that you bring into this place." I think that's a great thing to adopt for our medical practices.
Let's just say you went to a restaurant and your waiter came up and maybe they were a little short and maybe you knew that they were shorthanded, but they weren't real patient with you when you were trying to think about what you wanted to order. And then when they brought your food back, they never came back to ask you, "Oh, how was your meal?" You could tell that the energy and the place was not good. And I bet when you went home, you probably thought about it one or two more times. That's how we are as people when something negative happens to us and it makes us feel not so good.
Well, that's what happens with our patients when they come to our practice. So we need to make sure that the energy that we bring is positive. And I know that not every day can be a great day, but if we start focusing on what we can do to make our energy more positive, just little things for each other. A high five, a pat on the back, a thank you. We can change that really quickly because if we don't, our patients are going to feel our energy, whether it be good or bad and they're gonna think about it once they leave our doors.
Remember that old saying, "one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch"? Well, that's the same way with our energy at our office. If one of us has bad energy, believe me, it's going to affect someone else. So let's make sure that every morning when you have your huddles, you gathered together and you talk about the energy that you're bringing to your practice that day and how you want to affect your patients.
If you have any questions or need any advice, all you have to do is email me at [email protected] or Dr. Peter Wishnie at [email protected]. I hope you have a great day. Bye.
