Hi, it's Tina and I'm here with your One Minute Management Tip.

Today I want to talk about purpose. Purpose, everyone's purpose in the practice. Do they know what their purpose is?

I was recently talking with an office manager and we were talking about her front office team and some of the struggles that they were having. And I asked, "Do they know what their purpose is for being there?" And when she talked with them, they said, "Well, to answer the phone, schedule appointments, collect co-payments." But they didn't truly understand that they were customer service representatives, ambassadors for that practice. The first point of connection for patients and the doctor. And how important their purpose was because if people didn't like them and the way they were treated when they called to schedule an appointment, they certainly weren't going to like the doctor or possibly even keep the appointment or come back in.

So, it's really important that each of us understand our purpose and our position in the practice. And then how our purpose affects others in the practice and what they do. So, take some time to chit chat with one another and make sure that everybody is on the same playing field when it comes to understanding their purpose for being there.

Now, if you need any help, just email me at [email protected] or Dr. Peter Wishnie at [email protected].

And I want to take this time to talk to you, those of you who are not members of the Virtual Practice Management Institute, that this is what the Practice Management Institute is all about. It's filled with modules on training so that everyone in the practice can understand how a medical practice runs and what the purpose is for every single position in the practice and how to make it better.

If you'd like to know more, just go to toppractices.com and look under the Virtual Practice Management Institute. I'll talk to you later. Take care. Bye-bye.
