Hi, it's Tina with Top Practices Practice Management. And I'm here with your one-minute management tip, which might go a little over a minute. I was asked the question on how do you keep your staff motivated, engaged? Well, I just talked about this in our VPMI group. And if you don't know about what the Virtual Practice Management Institute is, just go to the Top Practices website and hit the link Practice Management to find out more about it.
Anyways, I was just talking about this and the one question that you need to ask if you're the physician or you're the office manager, when you say, Hmm, how can I get our staff more engaged or more motivated is to do some self-examination and evaluation.
Are you engaged?
Are you motivated?
Or are you just spinning your wheels?
You're doing a hundred things a minute because you have to get them done, but are you motivated?
And then what is it that motivates you?
Are you happy at what you do?
Are you excited about serving your community and helping the people who come in your doors every day?
If you aren't, then talk to the people who work there and ask them how they feel about that.
Do they realize the importance of what they do every single day when patients come into your practice? And how they can make the patients feel so much better. Just as they can make each other have a better day. When you talk about what your purpose is, not only just in the practice, but your purpose in the community and your purpose to those who you serve, things seem to change.
But remember it begins with the leadership. It begins with the office manager and it begins with any lead team people you have, and most of all the physician. Ask yourself, am I engaged? Am I motivated? Because this is what's going to stir the pot for them to become more engaged and motivated. If you have any questions, you can email me at [email protected] or Dr. Peter Wishnie at [email protected]. You take care and stay safe out there. Bye-bye now.
