Hi, it's Tina with Top Practices Practice Management and I'm here with your one-minute management tip. Someone asked me, "How do I get my staff to get along and be nice to each other?" And I thought, wow! First of all, if you're choosing to work in healthcare and that means that we're choosing to help people, then why would we want to not be nice to those who we work with?

We may not all, you know, understand each other or think the same way, but we need to be kind to one another and there's no exception to that rule. We are professionals and like I said, we're in the helping people business. And that means helping one another each day, even though maybe our personalities collide or we may not agree totally with how somebody thinks or believes.

That's all right. That's the world. We are humans. And we are just trying to do the best that we can, but we always must respect one another and be kind to one another. Whether it's our coworkers, which in this case it is, or the people who come in our practice. If they came in and you weren't nice to them, if you treated them possibly like you're being mean or rude to a coworker, would that patient come back? Absolutely not. You know, life is short and we need to make the best of each day each hour, each moment, because no one knows how many any of us is given. And my plea to you is to bring joy to your practice. Bring caring, bring kindness, and learn to accept each other for who you are.

And you don't have to be best friends as my friend, Sandra Larenz, told me one time. You just need to be able to work together. And you're adults. And I think you can do that. If you have any questions or if you need any help, just know that you can email me at [email protected] or Dr. Peter Wishnie at [email protected].

I hope you take this food for thought to heart and create a better work environment for everyone. It's each of our responsibilities to bring our best selves to work each day. So that we can enjoy each other, so that we can help one another, and so that we want to return to work the next day. You take care and stay safe out there.

Bye-bye.
