Hi, it's Tina, and I'm here with your one-minute management tip. I was talking with an office manager recently and they said they were having problems with getting staff to follow their protocols. And when I looked at some of the protocols, they were so detailed that I could understand how staff would have a hard time following them.

Now, if you're a member of the Virtual Practice Management Institute through Top Practices, you know that we have a whole module, well, actually two on how to write your manuals and how to keep protocols really simple. But my tip for you today is that if you want people to follow protocols in your practice, have them help you write them.

It's so easy, especially if you're doing a new hire, have them jot down bullet points of what it is that you're training them. They'll remember it better. And then, you know what, ask them to train somebody else in the office with it. By having simple protocols for people to follow along with simple policies, your practice will run smoother and people will understand what is expected from much better. If you have any questions, you can email me at [email protected] or Dr. Peter Wishnie at [email protected]. You take care and stay safe. Bye-bye now.
