Hi, it's Tina from Top Practices Virtual Practice Management Institute. I want to take a moment to wish you, your staff and your families a happy holiday season.
You know, during this time of the year, we often start thinking. We reflect on the past and we look forward to the future, which reminds me of that wonderful Christmas story, a Christmas Carol, the one about Scrooge. You know what? There's a valuable practice management lesson that we can learn from Scrooge. Yes. Practice management.
You know, so often we look at the past and wonder why didn't we fix all the things in our practice or even some of the things and there it is staring us in the face now for the present and what are we going to do about the future? How can we even began? Well, here's the lesson that Scrooge taught us.
You know, when he was visited by the ghost of Christmas past, he did not like it. He was so fearful, but yet when you came away from that, he realized that the past was the past. There was nothing he could do about it, but he could learn from the lessons and yes, that brought him to the present. And when the ghost of Christmas present came to visit him, what did he do? He reflected upon what he saw. He focused and he thought about what are the lessons learned? What is it that I can take from the past and bring it into the present to change things so that again, my future will change. The past was haunting and the present was filled with hard truths and regrets for Scrooge, but when the ghost of Christmas future came to visit him, he said, "The ghost of the future. I fear you the most of everything that I have seen tonight, but I know your purpose is to do me good."
So, what is it that we can learn from the past that maybe we didn't get done and we can see what it's doing to the present and our practice. And now how can we fix the future?
