  • One of the things that's very impressive about Rem and all of the other colleagues within Top Practices is that they are very busy people. But they make it seem like you are the only customer there. They make time for you.

“Working with Top Practices has basically changed our life in podiatry. When we first began working with Rem, we had reached the depression component that's involved with podiatry. Where you don't want to do it anymore, you're looking for other alternatives, you're looking to get out of podiatry, and considering selling the practice. So, we were at pretty much a low point in podiatry practice. I think some of the first things that Top Practices brought to us was a positive mental attitude about the profession, and how we could actually improve financially, which was our biggest issue at the period of time when we went with Top Practices. Top Practices has taught us how to more effectively market. To the point that we were having, in one of our offices, a hard time filling our schedule. The other office was fairly full. But now we have a 6-8 week backed-up list to see us. To the point where now we are bringing on an associate doctor earlier in our business plan than we ever anticipated it, to be able to handle the supply and demand. We've gone from a practice that was making about, from a gross income, where we were struggling with two offices, we were making about $500,000 a year. With the help of Top Practices now, we—with one practitioner, that's just me right now—we are now just a little above 1.3 million. And that's been within a year and a half. And our goal for this year—after we just finished our 12-week planning meeting—is 1.65 million. I think we'll probably achieve that earlier than our goal, based on where we are with our business plan now. And that's with a new associate too! If you don't take advantage of the fact you can talk to Rem at no cost about your practice, then you don't deserve to be a podiatrist. You need to be smart about this. You work your whole life to become a podiatrist, and before you throw the towel in, I would at least talk to Rem. Because I can tell you right now that was a big turning point for me.  One of the things that's very impressive about Rem and all of the other colleagues within Top Practices is that they are very busy people. Rem is very busy. Tina is very busy. Peter is very busy. But they make it seem like you are the only customer there. They make time for you. Where you would think you'd have to get on a schedule and be seen in five or six weeks, no. They make time for you. They even do it, like, the next day, or even that day sometimes. For people to be that busy and to be accessible, is extremely impressive.” Leland Gilmore, DPM - Alexandria, VA

  • The best way to ensure a successful and thriving practice is to get into your practice.

"The best way to ensure a successful and thriving practice is to get into your practice. And Top Practices and the Practice Management Institute, and all the facets that go into it, allow you to be aware of what it takes and what is actually necessary to get into your practice and make all the parts work together. " Lance Greiff, DPM - Great Neck, NY

  • Dr. Craig Thomajan shares his thoughts on Top Practices and how he has learned to succeed in a fast-growing industry.

Top Practices has really made it easy to continue to move the needle because it's a moving target. Because the environment's changing, and we have to change with it. And the strategies are changing. It goes back to that point from before, where having patients coming into your practice in 2009 is different from having your patients come in in 2017. I mean, smartphones were just coming online back then. And now, gosh, everyone has a smartphone! So the evolution of Top Practices is—we're kind of walking at the same time.  Craig Thomajan, DPM - Austin, TX

  • When you join Top Practices and you follow their direction, there's no way you could fail.

Well I'd tell them, if I was first in practice, and I'd just started my practice, I would immediately sign up for Top Practices. It would be no hesitation. Because I look back, at—you know, I've been in practice for many years—and if I'd had these resources back then, it would have made my life a lot easier to get to where I am right now. And shortly—as soon as I hired an office manager, I'd sign up for the Virtual Practice Management, so the office manager doesn't have to learn by her mistakes, or his mistakes. They'd have somebody that has the blueprint for you to be successful. When you join Top Practices and you follow their direction, there's no way you could fail. So I'd tell them don't hesitate. Sign up right now.  Kevin Molan, DPM - Charlotte, NC

  • Anytime you get on the call, people are talking about podiatry.

I think it's like anything in life. You go to take a course in anything, or you listen to a book or read an article—you're bound to learn something. And what's better than listening to a call that's talking about your profession? They're talking about things that can improve your practice, your relationship with your patients, and marketing strategies. And this is all dedicated to my field of podiatry, which is very rare to find. You can't find that anywhere else. It's not out there. It's very unique. Anytime you get on the call, people are talking about podiatry and how to grow their practice and how to take care of their patients and how to avoid issues. Ali Khosroabdi, DPM - Woodland Hills, CA

  • It’s just changed our life.

I joined [Top Practices] about 3 years ago because I just felt a void in my practice that I was always successful but I really wasn’t progressing. I just stayed the same and I really had that inner desire to continue growing. We joined about 3 years ago and for the first year it was just getting to know Top Practices to finding out what they really wanted out of me, believing in Rem, and within that year he taught me how to read more, how to believe in myself, set goals – and 3 years later we're in a situation where I have hired 2 doctors to help me in my practice, my personal income has gone up about 300%, my wife and I travel at least a week a month and it’s just changed our life.

  • I have no regrets. I made the right decision to do more. We really tiptoed into this stuff like it was ice cold water, but it’s really nothing but a big warm “hot tub” for us now!

"About two years ago, I had the offer to join a large doctor group and give up on owning my own practice. My friends all said to do it, this is the way of the future, private practice is dead. And things were really flat for a few months. I really had to go one of two directions: I can join up with this other group, or I can go with Rem and really make this work. I had to look down the road and ask where I could see myself in five years. And I knew I wouldn’t be happy in a larger group. I have no regrets. I made the right decision to do more. We really tiptoed into this stuff like it was ice cold water, but it’s really nothing but a big warm “hot tub” for us now!"

Corey Fox, DPM - Massapequa, NY
  • I haven’t heard one negative word from anybody in this group. So no negativity, which helps us keep a better attitude. I think that’s what keeps us coming back.

It’s definitely the personalities; it’s the people. I mean, we haven’t met anybody who hasn’t been extremely helpful, extremely friendly, and extremely—like I said before—upbeat and positive…. I haven’t heard one negative word from anybody in this group. So no negativity, which helps us keep a better attitude. I think that’s what keeps us coming back.

  • Top Practices has been the single best thing I have done for my Podiatry Practice – ever.

"Top Practices has been the single best thing I have done for my Podiatry Practice – ever. Two years ago, my revenue started dropping and I just couldn’t figure out why. Increasingly, I found myself putting in longer and longer hours without deriving any benefit. Even worse, the enthusiasm I had previously experienced in providing patient care and managing my practice was at an all time low. Fortunately, I met Rem Jackson and became a member of Top Practices. For me, Top Practices has been nothing short of a miracle, catapulting my practice revenue and enthusiasm to levels I didn’t even know were possible. During the 1st year of being a Top Practices member, my revenue increased 20% from the prior year and this year I am on track to increase revenue over 35% from last year. Thanks to Rem and Top Practices I am on track to create the multi-million dollar practice I knew was possible, but didn’t know how to get to. I’ve always used a medical practice management company who compile my monthly financial practice statements of profit and loss. They meet with me quarterly and review. Although they have been helpful is tracking where the practice money goes, they have not been useful in helping me build the practice or increase revenue, whereas Top Practices has. My new patient and returning patient numbers are dramatically up and each month is better and bigger than the last. My team, who were previously weary like me, are now excited to come to work and are genuinely thrilled to be part of the practice trajectory. The best part though – I have my life back and am excited to show up for work each day.  Thanks to Rem Jackson and Top Practices, for the first time, I have the tools and a plan to get to where I want to go. The stress of not knowing what’s wrong and worse, not knowing how to fix it are gone."

Jenny Sanders, DPM - San Francisco, CA
  • More and more patients are coming from the Internet and my book campaign.

Last week I saw 3 new patients who had seen other podiatrists in the past (one even having surgery done), but came to me because they are runners and saw on my website that I am also a runner. One patient had a stack of paper in her hand that she had been reading, which was the entire transcript of my interview with Rem from my book campaign. More and more patients are coming from the Internet and my book campaign.

  • My business has grown exponentially and I have added another associate and probably a new location soon, all while working smarter, not harder.

I have been a member of Top Practices for over 3 years.  It is BY FAR the best marketing move I ever made.  My business has grown exponentially and I have added another associate and probably a new location soon, all while working smarter, not harder. Rem's ideas and energy are contagious, and the attention to every detail is incredible. He will take you to a new level, IF you are willing to put in the time/effort. My only regret is in waiting so long to join after meeting Rem and seeing the program in action. Do it!  You won't be sorry.

Scott Schulman, DPM - Indianapolis, IN
  • I changed my practice and now see the types of patients I want to see, when I want to see them. I enjoy podiatry again.

I joined Top Practices 3 years ago and it has been a game changer for me. At the ripe age of 37 I was already burned out on podiatry and contemplating searching for a different career. With Rem's help, I have gotten my weekends and evenings back! I changed my practice and now see the types of patients I want to see, when I want to see them. I enjoy podiatry again. Rem and Top Practices members have given me the tools and resources to accomplish my goals.

  • I have been working with Rem for over four years now, and without hesitation, it's the best money I have ever spent on my practice and myself.

I have been working with Rem for over four years now, and without hesitation, it's the best money I have ever spent on my practice and myself. I opened my practice six years ago in an area already saturated by podiatrists, and since beginning work with Rem, I have had huge success. What I think is best about Rem is that there isn't a magic solution (nor does he claim there is one) for everyone. He treats each practice uniquely and helps you find what the right answers are for your practice.

Misty McNeill, DPM - Elmhurst, IL
  • Rem's program is a carefully orchestrated, multifaceted and easily retrievable system of training programs that you can enter at what ever level of expertise you may be in.

I have been in practice for almost 40 years. You would think that I would have all my systems in place after all these years. I just want to assure you that there are so many facets to Rem's program, no matter what year you are in practice, that will be huge assets to your practice and your life. He has been a breath of fresh air for me and my staff. Rem's program is a carefully orchestrated, multifaceted and easily retrievable system of training programs that you can enter at what ever level of expertise you may be in. His staff has been so responsive to our practice. We are very pleased, as you will be if you decide to utilize their services.

Robert Parker, DPM, FACFAS, FAENS, FASPS - Houston, TX
  • Rem’s always great for giving you suggestions and helping guide you, since we’re not experts in marketing at all.

Probably the motivation and the constant reminder that we’re going to get together every month and discuss our goals and what we accomplished, because otherwise I think it’s very easy to fall into the everyday lull of practicing. When you know that that’s out there and you’re going to be talking to other people about it, it motivates you to keep going and not give up on things so easily. And as always, Rem’s always great for giving you suggestions and helping guide you, since we’re not experts in marketing at all.

    Dr. Richard Schorr
  • Working on the goals, attending the Summit, and the coaching calls with Rem. Those are probably the top three things that have motivated me and helped me to stay on task.

There are so many things that I could do in my practice, marketing-wise, that I just don’t have time to do. I think the thing that’s been most helpful is they [Top Practices’ Virtual Marketing Director Services] have been able to write content for me for my website and help me with a lot of the website information. I would not be able to do that by myself. The Best Benefit of Being a Top Practices Member It’s really helped me to set goals and to work to achieve those goals – actively work to achieve them, not just write them down and forget about them. It has helped me to focus on what I want for my practice and where I want it to go in the future. It’s helped me to organize my thoughts and to think of the practice more as a business, and also to help me think more of my patients and serving them rather than just having them as a number coming in and out. It has helped me to serve them and improve the quality of the care. The Top Things from Membership Working on the goals, attending the Summit, and the coaching calls with Rem. Those are probably the top three things that have motivated me and helped me to stay on task. When you have to talk to Rem - which is a great thing, that’s not a bad thing - if I’m slacking with my numbers and things that I know that I need to report to him, that keeps me going—that monthly phone call. If I were to give advice to anybody who was thinking about joining Top Practices, it’s that you can’t use them just once a year or once a month motivation. It’s not a cheerleading session. You need to be committed to running your practice and running your business, and use them as help and not depend on them to make you successful. You can’t just listen to the CDs in your car and not do anything about it. It’s a lot of work that you have to do on your own practice, on your own life, to be successful. This is something that helps you do that.

  • Willingness to be Coached Led to Success

I often get asked if ALL my Top Practices Marketing Mastermind Members are big successful multi-million dollar practices. Sometimes doctors hear what we are doing at Top Practices and think that the practices in the group are way out of their league. Nothing could be further from the truth. My answer to the question "Are all the members in your group big multi-million dollar practices??" is, "Not yet…but they are all on the way." In fact, we have solo practices, small practices, new practices, practices that are recovering from a major crisis or illness-caused setback as well as big successful practices. One of my favorite member stories is Dr. Misty McNeill, our Top Practices Mastermind Group Member of the month.   Misty is a podiatrist who practices in Elmhurst, IL. She has been a member of the Top Practices Mastermind Group for over a year now. She opened her own practice and started with no patients. Over time she built her practice while caring for her young children. She was able to focus on her family and still practice podiatry mostly on her terms.   Then everything changed. An opportunity came her way to buy an existing practice and she decided to do it. She made the investment, and began to put all the pieces in place to be successful in both offices. That's when she went from part time to full full full time. Her dedication to her family hadn't changed, but in order to still be a great Mom and a great doctor, she threw her sanity pretty much out the window.   We've all been in this spot at times in our careers. Some of the people reading this are right there, right now.   All of the problems that come with taking over a new practice appeared for Misty and very few of the systems that support this new level of practice were in place. So she rolled up her sleeves and went to work. She brought on an associate; she wrote down her goals for the first time and reviewed them regularly. She made the right staffing decisions and she really took time to think through her systems.   She kept working on solving her problems and building an exceptional practice, now in two locations. She started to really commit to the kinds of behaviors that  winners all exhibit: She associated with people with great attitudes and great ideas. People who could show her how they did it and people who have the right to tell her what they think. (Everybody can tell you what you should do - very few have actually earned the right to do it). She found this group of peers in her Mastermind Group. She was willing to be coached. This is a KEY to success. Most doctors like Misty are brilliant accomplished people (in some areas) and most need help to succeed in other areas. Misty really started to see the benefit of listening to the very smart people in her life, like her husband ( a Senior Executive at a Major Company) and her marketing and mindset coach (that would be me) and others. Ideas were presented to her and she took the information and just made changes. She adjusted when she needed to and she began to take control of her practice, her personal life, and her future.   Here's how she describes it:   "Rem, First let me tell you a little success I had....I went on vacation for 8 FABULOUS days to the middle of nowhere in the Caribbean!  No cell phone, no email, no contact.  I came back to find that everything had run smoothly...all emergencies taken care of...even my mail box wasn't that full! Since I opened my practice in 2005,  I have never taken more than 4 days in a row and always scheduled so I could work the first or second half of the work week.  AND This was the first time in 7 years that I went away and did NOT turn on my cell phone or email!  It truly was an oasis I never could have done it without getting into the mastermind mindset...So Thank You...it truly has been worth every penny!" She just launched her first patient newsletter campaign. Now I know that most of the people reading this say "Newsletters! Boring, expensive and ineffective!"  Well, after seeing how other members of the group use their newsletters and how they produce them and hearing what the response is, she thought she would give it a try. She mailed out 500. As she was doing this she told me that she thought "This is going to cost me about $500 -why am I doing this?"  Well she did it , and when 5 patients came back in and one needed orthotics and one surgery, she thought "Now I get it"  If I spend $500 on communicating to my list and the result it well over 10 times return, then why wouldn't I spend $1000?"    Here's another great story:   "Rem, After hearing MaryBeth Crane talk on the Mastermind call and being a runner myself, I was excited at the prospect that shoe stores might want to collaborate on services... So we called them.... GUESS WHAT...they are having me on their monthly fun run in March and I will be the speaker...they usually get 50 people! And while talking to her we realized that our kids go to the same school...so the school has a running club and we are sponsoring that too with warm up sweats for the spring.  Combining my two loves...PEDS and RUNNERS! Yeah...I feel like I am on a 12 step program...it works if you work it!"   It works if you work it   That's the beauty of good marketing. You never have to ask how much you are spending if it works. You only want to ask how much more can I do? As I always say there simply is no place that you can invest that will bring you a better return that your own practice. If you do it right. Misty is now ramping up her marketing machine and getting prepared to enter the ranks of the big successful multimillion dollar practices.   Misty, has always been a great doctor, wife, mother, friend, and daughter, Now she is a great business owner, and a role model for other doctors to learn from too.   Congratulation to Dr. Misty McNeill, The Top Practices Marketing Mastermind Group Member of the Month.

  • "I have already seen the benefit in that patients appreciate the information that is provided."

"My book campaign is in the early stages, but I have already seen the benefit in that patients appreciate the information that is provided. Also, many of them are quite impressed that I have my own book."

Gregg Neibauer, DPM - Missoula, MT
  • "Before Top Practices, I was a rudderless boat."

Top Practices has transformed my life, and thus my practice. Before Top Practices, I was a rudderless boat. I was going somewhere, but had no control. Top Practices has given me the tools so I now control my own destiny: a positive mindset, goals, and a compass to chart my own course. Rem always has a pertinent solution or answer for any problem or question. Even better, the solution/answer is crafted in a positive light, making the problem a thing of the past. One of the most important concepts that Rem has advocated is being the CEO of your practice: this is profound. Most doctors fail miserably running the business side of their practice; Rem's recommendation and approach to be the CEO of your practice is spot on and has helped me immensely.

Gregg Neibauer, DPM - Missoula, MT
  • "Everyone wants to change and grow their practice, but not everyone takes the actions needed to make it happen and happen fast."

Member of the Month Dr. Brandt Gibson, American Fork, Utah Top Practices is delighted to name Dr. Brandt Gibson as our member of the month. Brandt has practiced for 4 years in American Fork, Utah. Brandt met Rem at an AAPPM meeting and became intrigued with the kind of marketing that Rem teaches. He waited, however for about six months before he saw Rem at another AAPPM meeting and as they passed in the hallway he told Rem that he'd been thinking about it long enough and it was time to get started. And get started he did! Brandt jumped right in with both feet and had Top Practices produce his book, he got his database set up and he used Rem's 18 step campaign to convert his prospective patients into actual patients. He's our member of the month for the following reasons: Not only did he get his marketing rolling quickly, he also wrote a practice growth plan that covered all aspects of his practice and he started executing a 90 day plan to get as much done as he could in that time -so he changed things fast. He began to promote his practice in several different ways and generated a lot of activity immediately. He established a very high quality relationship with a local shoe store focused on his book offer (the store is handing out flyers for his book to everyone who buys shoes, it promotes his book on it's website, and it's delighted to have such a public relationship with a doctor who specializes in foot and ankle health. He is converting his leads into patients at a high percentage. Everyone wants to change and grow their practice, but not everyone takes the actions needed to make it happen and happen fast. Congratulations to Dr. Brandt Gibson Top Practices' first Member of the Month.

    Brandt Gibson, DPM
